    Default Juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron

There is not much to shoot in these days. I went out early morning to one of my favorite places but all I found was photogs with long faces; nothing to shoot.
This picture was taken last week around Burlington Bay area close to a breeding colony of mostly Caspian Terns and a few BCNH.
    Thanks for looking.

Love the eye contact, sharpness, wings and background.

With 'nothing to shoot' you sure came away with a winner. Good flying posture, and well exposed on the underwing. I like the overall flight angle too.

Nice pose and underwing exp...I would add a touch of space underneath and take some off the top for the wings to come down into! Nice one Karl

Karl, excellent pose. With the light from your left, bird angled this way has wroked quite well. Good choice of crop and expsoure looks spot on.

Critical AF seems to be a bit behind the head. A round of USM on the face can potentially improve this one.

    Thanks, Kaustubh.
    Actually I new that.
I have a very similar shot where the active (middle) focusing square sits on the beak and the head is super sharp.
I chose this one since it has a nicer wing position.
I have three shots from the series where the head is super sharp.
I will post one some other time.
    Thanks again.
