At 4 days old, these 2 American Oystercatcher chicks were doing quite a bit of rough housing. In this capture, the rear chick was actually chest butting the front one. These two little clowns were a JOY to watch and photograph!

This capture was chosen for Tier II of the NANPA Showcase this year.

Excellent image, and with the lean they have going forward, the uphill crop works well. Nice job!!!!

We can talk about head turns this and that.. but you captured an adorable moment.. Kudos!

Marina, the interaction you have captured here is priceless! What fun it must have been to lie there and watch these little cuties. I love the composition and DOF.

Very well captured,Marina ,together with the story behind it.
I love how the rear one is thrusting forward with its little chest.

Just way too cute I love the tip-toed pose of the back bird. I agree the slope/lean combo works well, and great low angle. Yes, I would have preferred the front bird not looking away...I had to say it!

Totally astounding light and action and sharpness. You did a great job getting so close.

Were they running uphill? Ditto Dan on the one in the front looking away; still a potential major contest image.

Wonderful behaviour captured! Light, colours, shooting angle and BG are all great. However, to may aging eyes both birds - especially the one on the left look pretty soft. The image will still be effective with a CCW rotation that will "fix" the slope. Would also remove the sharpening halos.

Marina, what a moment. Low angle makes all the difference here. I love the raised foot pose of the first one. Light is terrific as well....so is your choice of crop. Very well done.

You are correct, Ofer, that they were not as sharp as I would have liked, esp the left one. However, I still felt as though it worked pretty well. The chicks were actually running uphill so I do think this is an accurate depiction of the scene. Thanks for catching the halo.

Great moment captured there. Love the soft light.
I would remove some negative space on top and add more on the bottom. Agree on the halo around the birds.

Priceless!!!!! Love the playful stance of the rear OC, and the light and colours are simply stunning. This will go a long way.

Fantastic capture of the two cuties interact with each other, Marina.
I see some white halo around the beaks, that can easily be corrected. (removed)

From where I sit the face of the right hand bird, the main subject (and therefore all that matters), is more than sharp enough. More than sharp enough to sell, more than sharp enough to be honored in a major contest. In short, the image rocks.
