Last year in June I managed a very short visit to Ranthambhor National Park. It was peak summer and a scorching Rajasthani summer at that.
Tigress t17 (or Sundari as she is now called) was patient and gave sufficient opportunity to shoot. however, in the trees and undergrowth, birds were going about their business, with little care for the big Cat.
This Rufous Tree Pie gave me many shots. The afternoon sun brought out its rich colours.

Arijit, good that you could get so close. Exposure and DOF look very good. The biggest issue here is that the bird has its head turned away. You probably did not have a chance to move as I am guessing you were in a vehicle. This would have been much better if the head would have been turned your way...even a tiny bit would have made a big difference.
Nice bird and well exposed but I agree the head angled away is the biggest issue...had it turned it our way this would have resulted in two things: better connection with the subject, and a better lit face/eye with the light coming slightly from the right.
Sometimes a nice squeak can get the bird to turn its head towards you. Neat looking species with a good EXP. You did well in relatively harsh light.
