    Default Nature's Cruel #2

Here is another shot from the series, two bills were not touching.
Similar processing as the previous except the ibis was further left from the frame, to balance the vertical crop, I had to add some canvas on the bottom. Hope you like it.

    D3s + 600VR + 1.4TC, 1/2000, f8, ISO 500, -3EV filled flash.

I like this one much better. Great action, and you really get a sense of scale between the birds. The bills merging together OOF on the other one bugged me. Now, if only the tern's eye were visible. Your overall cropping mods look good to me.

Another nice shot but not as effective as the previous one IMO. I much prefer the composition in the previous image with the strong diagonal created by the beaks and necks. The fact that the beaks are touching makes the interaction so effective. Both images look a bit on the bright side to me though.

The shoot is ok and also the particular situation. I don't like too much space under

    Ofer,

    Bright but not blown right?
Both shots look ok on my screen. I wonder what others are seeing.

No troy, definitely not blown. And I find the lightness in the 2 to my taste...Another great image, I do prefer the 1st one but would love either in my gallery. Great image

How do you go about to tone it down? Use the exposure adjusement layer? Or Brightness/Contrast?
    Which is a better option?
    Thank you Dumay!

Not to butt in on Dumay I would do this in Levels, take down the midtones leaving the highlights and deeps alone.

Yeah, either levels, brightness adjustment or even just hilites would work, I suppose it depends on taste...But as said, I like it as presented.

Great interaction, and I like how the line of the two bills line up. A well balanced comp too.

See Linear Burn and Adding Whites to the Blacks in dozens of my posts here.... Details in Digital Basics.

While I did like the more diagonal lines in the first one I prefer this one without the bill merge. I'd take some off the bottom here and go more square.

For a killer print, bring the ibis from the first frame into this image....

Competitions aside, if we start moving birds from image to image we lose our credibility and bird/nature photography becomes more or less useless IMO as people will never believe us. This is a very dangerous concept and a boundary we should never cross....
