Gail, I lightened it a bit.
I do have this problem, the photos always look fine on my Mac, but do view dark when I view them on a Windows PC. I don't know what you use, I will try to lighten all of them in the future.

Dan, nice pose, eye visible and I like your choice of crop. The original is definitely on the darker side. For such scenes, I think it is better to go for a high key effect..where the sky is very close to being white. That would have exposed the bird properly, IMO.
Repost is better but there are some artifacts in the sky. How much did you have to crop from the orig? If it is a big crop, then in the interest of IQ, it might be better to crop less and leave more room around...since its a flight shot, extra room will work.
The repost is certainly better exposure-wise. The IQ seems to show a heavyish crop symptom, and I do wish the wing to our right was more open.
Sounds to me like you need to calibrate your Mac's monitor...that would be esier than trying to guess what tonality your images should be at each time.
