Taken a while back in Kruger, unfortunately too much bush around to get any action.

Canon30D with Sigma 170/500 1/60 @ f14 ISO200 - FF cropped for comp and removed a few stray bits of grass and leaves.

    C&C allways welcome.

Good tight crop helped Pieter, like the open males eyes... good shot. It would be interesting to know why you used F14, did it help get both heads sharp:2 I know that a zoom needs to be stoped down a bit more so that may be the reason. TFS

Hi Pieter, just dipping in quickly, but it looks a tad warm in the red department?

Now I could be well be wrong as I am viewing on the laptop (just sorting out a quick DVD promo for myself ) If I am right, go to Colour balance in Adjustment layers, midtones > cyan/red slider move left say -20 > yellow/blue -4. Will check it out tomorrow.

Agree with Vivaldo about stopping down & you could up the ISO too, must keep shutter speed up.

I like it, both heads sharp despite shutter speed....I would take some off the right and add to the left if you have it as the male is the one with the eyes open and he is looking to the left!

The tight crop works for me here. I really like the comfort level that these 2 have together. It's truly palpable.

Very nice interaction shot, Pieter. The different head angles together make for a good composition. They do seem very content with each other.

Hi Pieter this is not ideal by any shape or form, however I think there is a lot more you can get out of your original image and hopefully reduce some of the redness running through. I think you can go tighter on the RHS to emphasis the content more and this in turn would remove the slightly distracting branches too. You say 'FF cropped for comp' therefore, if you had more on the LHS then use it if possible, as it would also give the lions something to look into.

    cheers

Pieter - They do look comfortable and content. Good dof to get both in focus. Steve's repost takes this up a notch IMHO.

lions can often frustrate us by doing nothing interesting, eh Pieter?
I like Steve's repost but could see the "red warmth" to be somewhere between your OP and the repost

Thank you all for the kind comments and critiques. My apologies for the late response but for some reason I could not open the thumbnails. Logged on to the forum OK but when I wanted to open a thumbnail got a 404 error code. Glad to be back on.

Steve thank you for your help on the colour issue, your repost is probably closer and will experiment in line with Morkel's comment. Unfortunately no space on the left but agree with all the comments requiring more space on the left.

You are right Morkel but then again it is quite a privilege to spend a couple of hours with these guys in Kruger with no other vehicles around.

Hi Pieter, super lazy poses from both lions, and one cant get away from busy BG's in the african bush. Steve's repost has sorted the reddish cast.
