    Default Lemonade from a lemon- Species interaction

    This
    is a redo from a few years ago. One of my favorite images.
    Sepulveda Basin, Los Angeles, early in the morning. The night before I did some late overexposed work to get detail shots in low light. Then I saw the white pelicans catching large fish. After swallowing them, their heads continued to vibrate as the fish thrashed in their neck and stomachs. I was so excited, that I forgot to resent the manual exposure. My excitement of a sure cover shot was dampened by the errors of my excitement and lack of ability to clean some of the overexposed areas, especially the forehead. This is an attempt to correct that. I will post the OOB version of this later today. I really like what this has turned into. This is full frame. No cropping except slightly to straighten the image. Lots of extra space since I wanted the extra space for text if it sold.
    500ISx2=1000mm, tripod naturally,
    1/400 sec, f/10
    Metering: Multi-segment
    Exp comp: -2/3
    ISO: 100
    Flash: Off

    I like the image but am confused by your comments.... You did well despite the less than ideal head angle. Pointing the camera down to frame it a bit lower would have been great as the reflections are killer sweet.

    Atrie,
    I just screwed up and forgot to reset the exposure, so the highlights were blown out. I learned more on your workshop with Robert about dealing with that and gave it a try again and I am pleased with the improvement over the original.
    Thanks for the time spent in teaching.

    Looks like a good save. Harsh light and bad direction of light handled well. Water reflections are magnificent.

    Steve, excellent moment, reflections, shooting angle. This would have been a much much better shot if the light was on your back...or from your left. But action happens when it does and at times we have to shoot with suboptimal light angle.
