Default white rumped sandpiper - slat ponds

Here is another photo of this little bird. Another place and another day. It was a very windy late afternoon. I was laying in the water in a salt pond, balancing my camera in the wind trying to take a decent photo. Every time I go there I promise I will have knee and elbow protectors for the next time, but I always forget it and end up with painful spots on my body :-).

    Thanks for looking.

Well worth the pain you endured to create this one. Love the light and soft feel it has.

Another nice one Lorant. Was this also in May? It looks like an early July bird with those worn coverts. The variety in shorebird plumages is amazing.

Thanks for the comments. Artie, it was taken on the 28th of May in the late afternoon. Looked a lot lighter color than those I found about 5 days later 5 hours drive away. I love how the colors of the bird and the BG match so nicely. :-)

Lovely colors on the BG and a very nice posed bird. I like the small waves in the water.

Based on the worn coverts this could very well be a one (or even a two) year old bird.
