    Default The Remodeler

It's tough to get a loan right now, so this Snail Kite decided to do a remodel instead. Taken from Jim Neiger's boat.

    Doug:

Very nice mood here, with dark bird, dark background, excellent detail in feathers, really like the flare of the primaries on his right wing as he banks.

Stick is well positioned to not block the bird, like the comp/framing.

    Well done!

    Cheers

I like the gliding pose. Nice BG too, and the nesting mateiral is a nice bonus.

Sharp with a very nice BKGR. A bit lighter overall might work as the bird looks unnaturally dark. Wish that we could see a bit more of the tail.

Good diagonal flying angle Doug, and well placed in the frame. I like the overall sharpness, and of course the thatch for the house will help.

Nice one, Doug. Like the diagonal, gliding pose, and agree the nesting material adds interest.

Can you send him to my house when he is done?

Wonderful in flight Doug with a very nice background.

I thought about lightening it Artie. I'll repost the image later. Thanks for the feedback.

Killer pose and nice details. It's nice to see them against a dark BG.

I have never seen on of these except for photos , but my first impression was that it needs to be a bit lighter. Still one fine image. Super comp. and detail. Very powerfull image.

Not much not to like other then a little more tail would have been nice.

Am I the only one seeing a very slight purpleish cast within the bird ? Thats a honest question. She doesn't seem to reflect truly accurate coloration from here.

Here's a repost with some more brightness and a slight color balance adjustment. This was a very dark female.

No, you are not the only one. I remarked the same thing on a previous image of Doug's but nobody else chimed in...so I thought it was me!

Doug, I've found that "cast" in some of your recent images of Snail Kites...just an FYI...

Excellent Doug, love the pose and a ncice BG! I like the brighter version.

I don't see a color cast, I took the same shot and it looks the same in my files too.
