    Hi Folks,

Same morning as my last post, this one almost full frame. I've got a 27" IMAC and I must say the difference between jpeg full screen and post is vast, impact and detail diminished somewhat. i wonder, do you pros crop and compose differently for web postings? I exposed to the right and brought it back in ACR and PS.

    ISO 400, F5.6, 500 +1.4, Mk4, 1/3200 on tripod. C&C appreciated.

    Hi,

Repost of my image, ol' duffer that I am I'd forgotten to sharpen post resizing for web, 17MB to 200kb does something to an image! Guess you don't have to do anything different for the web after all. Anyway thanks for all your comments.

    Regards CB

Chris, stunning shot, actually the original shot was better, repost looks over sharpening.

Hi Chris, excellent capture and presentation! Love the wings-forward attack pose, detail, color rendition, and composition. I agree with Troy, don't think you needed the extra sharpening. If you did that sharpening on a separate layer (always recommended!) you could adjust the opacity if you wanted just a tad more sharpness. The repost shows quite a bit of sharpening halo artifacting.

I'm no pro, but I crop for web presentation to maximize the compositional look. In the rare case that someone wants a print, I have them decide which aspect ratio they would like the crop to have or if they want to pay for a custom mat and frame. I find that cropping to standard print sizes often leads to less appealing images, especially when the image is crying out for a square or panoramic style crop.

Thanks to you both for your comments and time. Only just started sharpening post saving for the web and I'm not making a good job of it am I . I agree with your thoughts regarding web posting Kerry. Even with my very limited experience of it, I find quite often that I'm unhappy with results.
