    Default INtruder Alert-- ( theme?)

    Attached Images Attached Images

The Summer Tanager was on the perch and I composed to make the shot. At that second, the Blue Grosbeak was landing down the branch. The tanager reacted and in the next 1/10th second launched against the grosbeak. In the second photo, the grosbeak is sharper, but the tanager is a blur and slightly out of focus, so I probably will not post that one.
This is enough and a fun image.

Hi Steve, the caption ruins this image. Otherwise both birds are sharp and the bg is very nice. Of course I

wish that the grossbeak was completely included.

Steve, nice perch, sharpness, BG, DOF, action and sharpness. Not a big fan of the text though :-)

The birds are too close to the edges. If you have more room on the left, then I'd rather have this one cropped..without the grosbeak.

If you had had a 400mm lens you would have been famous..... Two great birds though.

    Agree 100%...

The text box has to go.

Agree with all of the above. It's fun for a chuckle but not fine art!

It was never meant as fine art, but as a fun image. I have a lot of tanager images and also blue grosbeaks so this is not ctirical, but it is the only only one with the beak open, so I have the option of usaing the crop. The action took place really fast. I agree with Artie that it would have been nice to have a 400mm instead of 500, or to have used the 5D MK II for a wider view, but I did not have them on at the time.. IF wishes were fishes, then I could feed the world.

You almost nailed it, Steve. The text doesn't bother me at all. I can "see" well enough what the image would look like without it.

Amazing opportunity and well executed shot. I would like it better to be presented without the text and use the line as a caption.
