Hey John,
Sarp where it needs it and lit nicely too. As the spider sits left and is facing left.....I feel the image is almost split in 2 comp wise. If yo uhave the room bottom and left.....I would add that back and take off some on the right. You may be also better off trying this as a vert......if you have the room below. Just another option for you to explore and overall....nicely done!
While generally not a fan of square presentation.....I might go more room right (about 1/2 inch) and then keep the space the same as the right above the hind leg. Yeah....makes a square comp but other than a reposition of camera in the field....IMO....the best comp choice overall. Let's see what others chime in.
Hi John. This is a cool spider (for those of us who think spiders are cool ) and I think I prefer the vertical comp over the OP - it would be even better, IMO, if you had more room at the bottom and took off a corresponding amount at the top. Given what you have to work with in this image, I'm leaning toward Roman's idea of a square crop as being the best compromise. To my eye, the spider looks a little oversharpened - I'm seeing halos around some of the edges - an easy fix.
Nicely done, John. Very cool subject. I agree that the repost is too tight on right and too loose up top. If you could go back in your time machine (I know I need one!), I would recommend more room at the bottom.
