On Denise's Creative Photography Workshop at Nickerson we stayed out most nights till 9pm! Lots of time for crazy blurs. This one was created at 8:29 pm with the Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS lens, the 2X III TC, and the EOS-1D MIV. ISO 1250. Evaluative metering +2 1/3 stops: 1/10 sec. at f/6.3 in Tv Mode with ISO safety shift enabled as per my MIV User's Guide.

    That's DARK!

Don't be shy; all comments welcome.

Arthur, this is probably my favorite of your blurs. The eye and bill are superb!

Really nice Artie, I like everything about this one. The composition and the high key look are very nice.

    Artie,

Greetings. It's interesting how sometimes just certain things end up not as blurred. The eye is amazing.

    Cheers,

One of my favorite blurs, Artie! I have to ask though, did you sort of add the eye? I know that it could be out of the camera but?

I like the blur and high key approach on this one. It's an interesting perspective for this bird. Most images I've seen of oystercatchers capture the "showiness" of this bird with bold color and high contrast. This is the first I've seen that presents a softer side to this lovely bird. The image is beautiful.

Artie, I love the blur especially the impact of the brown triangle on the back contrasting with the soft high-key look. It looks like a velvet saddle

I think you added some eye (I would have) because it was blurred into oblivion (and maybe nictitated?) and the eye gave life to the smeared OC. I like it!

Glad that I checked back here as I never came clean.... I was ticked that the blurred wing covered the face and eye as you can see in the "before" image here. I grabbed an eye from a sharp, well lit image, applied about a 10 pixel Gaussian blur, and carefully positioned it. Good catch my friend!
