    Default Grasshopper Sparrow

Went back to the grasslands Thursday evening, trying again for the elusive Grasshopper Sparrow. I don't use audio to attract birds in their breeding grounds, but played the song quietly on the iPhone to show my wife what it was we should be listening for, and this guy popped up out of nowhere. He flew off and buried himself in the grass, but after a few minutes flew across the path to the side with better light, and posed for just a second. Removed a few distracting twigs; fairly large crop.

Nice sparow, with a nice pose, like the fact his singing. I do think the bird there is a bit of noise in the bird, maybe too much sharp...

Love the green bg & the bird pose.

Agree on the noise part with Humberto.

Look's like the new D7000 is an excellent camera. I like the detail, open beak and BG is really sweet. I also feel that it a bit oversharpened, easily fixed TFS

Very nice singing pose and I kind of like how the leave frame the subject, sharpening has been mention.

Good species to photograph, and by coincidence one that I had the pleasure to photograph yesterday too! Quite the alert singing pose. Nice greens and the sparrow's yellows look nice angainst those. Looks like you had to deal with harsh light, and comp-wise I would have liked the sparrow higher in the frame. A couple of extra white specks on the eye would be worth removing.
