Default Two Pairs or a Full House ?

I thought this image could well fit in this month's theme, but it could also be considered too busy for one pair.
This image was taken at a breeding colony of blackheaded gulls and terns, where there are constant squabbles between neighboring breeding pairs.

    Details:
    Tripod mounted 1D4 with 800mm+1.4TC, 1/2000 @ f/8 and ISO800, early morning sunlight.

Lovely behaviour and action shot! So much is going on in here!!
Would like to see a bit more detail in the white and maybe some more room on the sides as I am a 2:3 freak...

    Peter,

Greetings. Agree with Ofer about the whites... the jpeg seems to show plenty of room for white contrast adjustments.

Great action (esp. the full house on the turn )...

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

I don't find it too busy. Love the feeling of chaos, well portrayed. Agree on the whites. The reds and greens are beautiful.

I used a combination this time to improve the whites:

First a 10% opacity 'linear burn' and second a 10% opacity copied layer with blend mode 'multiply'.

    ..and repaired the tail.

    Does this look better ?

Hi peter, great interaction between the Gulls and I do not think its to busy. The repost darken the whites but did not seem to add much detail this might be do to the sun angle not giving you shadows to help define the feathers.

Peter, I love the interaction and the folige is very neat! Only thing that could be better IMO is the chick's HA, and the absence of the extra OOF gull's head. The repost improves the whites nicely.
