Default Journey to the Center of the Earth

This image, of the Thurston Lava Tube at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, was taken on our last trip to Hawaii. It was shot with existing light, that being none with the exceptions of the wall fixtures which were dimmer than they appear here. In working the image, I visioned a walk to the fires at the center of the earth, thus the color and tone. I also did not want to identify the participants, as my wife woundn't give her permission if I asked her! But she is there ... somewhere!

Modifications in PS4 and Topaz included; Selective Color, Hue & Saturation, Brightness & Contrast, DeNoise 5, and InFocus.

    Enjoy!

Wow, Mark. Really powerful image. I'm not so sure I'd want to walk down there. It does look like they're headed to the center of the earth.

I really like this one Mark, very interesting and dramatic with the red and yellow. Is that a lantern in the tube?

It is dramatic, Mark. The colors are very effective. It was cool walking into that tube when I was there... TFS.

The next time they do a remake of this movie - this needs to be the movie poster!

Indranil, you must have taken the turn to the right at the entrance, which is the short route that goes back to the surface! This one goes down!!!

Very strong image. Great vision on this composition. Journey to the center of the earth is exactly what it looks like..................love the high contrast-red treatment.

The title came from the recent viewing of the original, Pat Boone & James Mason version on TV. Thought the image was fitting ... with a little tweaking!

They are electrified, until you get down to the inner space  where the fires light the path!
