    Posted just for fun really, this Galápagos Sea lion seemed quite pleased with himself after coating most of himself in sand. The BG is sea, and it really was that colour, honest.

    Exposure: 1/2500s at f8. ISO 400. -0.33 stop compensation.
    Crop: Full frame horizontal (original capture horizontal)

    PS Levels, H/S, minimal USM

    I love it...I like the way the subject stands out from the BG...The quality of the image and detail is outstanding (I wish I knew how you do that)...I assume its snow and ice on the body and whiskers, that makes it for me!

    great facial expression.....great detail.. u can almost count in the grains of sand...

    i believe you about the sea colour

    Got to love this one , great one Steve.... would love to witness this. Great sharpness, like the closed eyes and facial expression. Sand & BG colours adds nicely TFS

    Why just fun, it is a great image with that expression, killer BG and good DOF.

    I would have preferred not to have seen the whiskers clipped.

    It's all been said. It might be fun, but it is a beautifully executed portrait all the same. I love those background colours and the facial expression is well caught.

    Love the BG and detail.

    Clipped whiskers is a small nit, though not a deal breaker for me.
