It is so hard to get these guys against an uncluttered BG so I was happy to get this shot
Cropped and sharpened and NR done in LR3.
    Critiques always appreciated

The BG and color of the subject are beautiful. I also like the diagonal formed by the small perch I do find it a bit bright and I feel the larger perch on the left is very distracting. Also seems soft and lacking some detail in the feathers. Perhaps due to hand holding????

    Hi Gail.

Let me say at the onset that I'm glad that you've posted this image of a very pretty bird.

But I agree with the comments Joe has made. Maybe you could increase contrast on the bird a bit to try to improve feather definition. But I also wish that the bird had cocked its head a bit to look more at you.

Hi Gail. Like you, I love these little guys. The BG is beautiful, and the pose shows his red breast streaking nicely. I'm guessing that the combination of large crop and relatively low SS might have contributed to some compromised IQ, but it's a lovely shot.

Gail, nicely framed in the fork of the tree, and certainly an uncluttered BG. Very striking yellows, and I like the semi inquisitive pose. I dont feel you needed to add contrast, but the sharpening has worked in the repost, and I would have run some NR on the BG.
