It was midday when I captured this image , very hot and dusty , heat haze made it really difficult to focus and get a sharp image..

    cropped from bottom and left.

    Nikon D3 600mm iso 400 1/1250 f8 , car bracket with wimberly head.

    Etosha , namibia...

Peter brilliant action, glad to see you are using my favourite Lens I see Wim posted a very similar image on ODP. I am loving your Etosha images, will have to visit the area soon. IMO colours don't look quiet right. It's personal taste but would have gone with warmer tones. TFS

Repost fixes the colour. Wonderful action and the heat haze gives an almost surreal look to the image. I like the gemsbok sentinels at either side of the action.

Super shot, beside the incredible action happening centre stage (like that lions stretched-out paw), agree with Hilary on the two oryx sentinels, and I like the haze, and the layers of backgrounds. Winning shot...
    Repost rocks.

This is an awesome image! Seeing this as a huge print on a wall would be magnificent!!

Great scene and like the repost... Great moment and the gallery in attendance to the spectacle make the image for me. Congrats

fantastic action here Peter...good job on the repost to fix the colours

I thought I'd seen this action before, didn't know you were with Wim in Etosha...(next time, take me along ).

The layered BG works well but I can see this working well as a pano crop too with the sky cropped out.

All of the above but I do agree with Morkel's pano suggestion. First thing I thought.

Awesome Peter. A dynamic image with action and a great sense of motion. Like the fleeing Springbuck in the BG.

Awesome. All those congregating animals remind me of the WPOTY image a couple of years ago.

thanks for all your feedback and kind comments...

I really enjoyed Etosha ,it can be a rewarding but also a difficult environment to capture images...

Harshad , you are welcome any time

Thanks Sid , I could not describe in any better, In fact I will probably plagiarize your words

Morkel and Robert, this image has been a real pain with cropping , originally got it wrong with including too much foreground , have also used your pano suggestion but keep coming back to his one..

regarding the tones.. I am still in two minds with OP and second version... but its all subjective.. and ones colour memory of a past event is so unreliable..

    thanks again everybody
