Taken in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Just liked the expression on this young males face whilst he was dozing in the company of two other young males.

50D/EF500f4+1.4 1/800@f7.1 ISO400 - FF, added a little canvas on the right and removed part of a watertank in the BG.

    C&C allways welcome.

Good eye focus and soft light here, Pieter.

Personally, I find the patch on the body slightly distracting. I would also crop some from the top and left to give the image a tighter feel.

Great expression on this handsome creature. I am not excited by the obvious patching work on the right side. A better solution may be a tighter crop. I note you used a 1.4x TC which could have been removed if timing allowed.

Love the expression and eyes on this cat, agree with Robert's assessment regarding patching/cloning but I'm sure that you can fix that with a little extra pp time.

Hi Pieter, I can see and fully understand why you did what you did, but Roberts observations are spot on. Would certainly run with a tighter crop option. As I often say, get the shot you want and if time allows, shoot with alternative options, ie switch from portrait to landscape, wider or tighter, as you never know what you might get once you start to review when back.

    Hope to see a repost.

Hi Pieter, crop and cloning suggestions aside, you have gotten nice detail, and a wonderful dreamy expression on the lions face, also good colours and BG. I like it..

Thanks all for your critiques and comments. Much appreciated and very helpful. I can appreciate the value of a tighter crop having seen Harshad's Serengeti lion.

Steve here is the repost, FF no canvas added and a little cropped from the top. My pics are all pre BPN and since then I have picked up so many pointers on this forum which I hope I will remember in the field.

late to the party here, but great expression Pieter and your repost is certainly better as I also noticed the blotched canvas extension right off the bat

the Kalahari sure gives great backgrounds and colours for photography!

Hi Pieter, this is a vast improvement compared to the OP in many ways. Composition isn't still quite right, but that will come in time and can be a very personal thing, plus, building on what you have learnt is the way to go.

    Thanks for the repost.

Thank you for the feedback Steve and Morkel. Steve I will experiment with some alternative comps.
