A different view of the same tulip that appeared in my threads of May 24 and 26.
Canon EOS 7D; Canon 180 mm macro lens; 12 mm, 20 mm, and 36 mm extension tubes; tripod. Manual focus and exposure (ISO 100, 1.6 seconds at f/3.5). As always, all comments and suggestions welcome and appreciated!
Hey Mitch,
I think you did very well with the abstract! I would still consider toning down the lightest green a touch but the biggest recommendation I can make is a crop off the bottom....just eliminating the lighter green in the LRC.(check with a browser crop) Minor tweak to a nicely seen abstract!
Hi Mitch. Another nice abstract! I like the sharp edge of the petal, the diagonal flow of the comp, and the interesting mix of pastel greens. I like Roman's suggestion to crop off the bottom to remove the LRC - and then perhaps a crop off the left to maintain the compositional look of the OP. Well done.
Thanks for the comments, everyone. I agree regarding the LR corner but don't care for what cropping from the bottom would do to the composition. Steve's idea of cropping from bottom and left to maintain composition has merit, but I used quick masks to hide the light area rather than cropping. I also darkened the brightest areas somewhat, but found that doing so with a curve on the composite RGB channel made the affected greens become grayish, so I only applied curves to the R and B channels, which worked much better.
