Another frm the wonderful Alan Murphy workshop. We called in a horny roadrunner and he performed for us several times, with and without a grasshopper offering, from the ground and also a high perch. More to come later. See him in the OOB forum. This is one wild bird!

On my monitor your runner is about life size and with the detail you caught it's easy to imagine him standing right here.

Have you thought of giving him some additional beak room on the right?

    George,
This is close to full frame but I shaved a little bit from the front and back to make the image more square
Thanks for the suggestion, I will use it when I print.

The repost is better. Both are very nice.

Agree with Norm; the repost is far better as it is nice and roomy. Love the SH and the skin behind the eye. You are a bit short on head angle but still a pleasing image.

Like repost better as well b/c of more room. The HA works here b/c it is such a unique bird and really shows off its facial features. There are so many details here and a lovely BG>

Repost is much better comp-wise...I don't feel as claustrophobic looking at it I would give the repost the same amount of room behind the head as the first image though. Lots of good details, well done.

Excellent detail Steve, and I like the sharpness, and colours. The repost does look better, and Dan's idea of more room behind will work too.

    Hi Steve

I like this shot a lot also. It's a great hair do well captured. I was in Yuma recently and missed seeing one of these by seconds...I hate that...!

A question though, did you resharpen the repost a little more? There seems to be a few sharpening artifacts or something above the top beak not found in OP.
