It has been a while since I have checked in at Birdphotographers but I though it was time to renew old on line friendships here.
Here is a photo from last year Silver Salmon workshop. (if the attachment works)

Hi Jess, welcome back and I'm please you have decided to renew your 'friendship' with BPN and a great opening image.
Love the stance and the engagement with the sows eyes with the reader, they were obviously very comfortable with your presence. I like it as presented, but might also suggest if this isn't full frame, to give more room around the whole subject, personally I would like to see more of the backdrop and would give you then two options, one as is, close up, the other being more environment/habitat? Just a thought and hope to see you posting soon.

PS Could you also add the shutter speed, F stop & ISO, always useful for others and for feedback too, thanks.![]()
Post Production: It’s ALL about what you do with the tools and not, which brand of tool you use.
Thanks for the feed back. There was not much more to show. I did a slight crop on the sides from horizontal.
I will try to remember to include things like iso and such in the future.
Looks like thay were posing for a family portrait... i would like to have seen more of the BG behind the bears( On the top of the image)...More backdrop in other words...Nice one Lee
Thanks Jess.![]()

Nice portrait Jess, very good dof. Looks like you were very close. I assume you were in a vehicle?

Wonderful family and perspective, Jess
I, too, am glad you decided to "swing by" again!
While I would love having this in my gallery, I immediately noticed 2 things I would address if it were mine:
1. If you have the space on the sides as you mentioned, perhaps having more on the LHS and a wee bit less on the RHS would be nice as their attention is focused that way?
2. I would tone down overall highlights here to enhance detail and tame the light...Robert has a great action that he describes in the Tutorials and Educational Resources forum, if you don't have an action you already apply in your workflow.
Please keep posting some more images from your amazing location!

Thanks for those suggestions Morkel. I wondered when someone would get to the horriable light we had. Thanks for the tip on Roberts action. I will look that one up.
Best.
Nice image and great advise above

Nice family portrait Jess, lovely detail and BG. Would love to see some with more of that great BG.
