Was having good luck attracting a few bobolinks with audio Sunday morning and this king jumped right in.
Full frame almost MFD, Mark III, 500+1.4, ISO 1250, 1/320, F13,fill flash with BB @ approx -2 1/2, tripod in hide. Background is a grass field.

    Thanks for looking.

Hi Neil- I really like this image. You have the whole bird from stem to stern in focus (f13), the BG is great, as is the rose perch. Love the lookback as well. The only thing I would change is to brighten up the face and eye a little. There are a variety of tools that will accomplish this but I make quite a bit of use of the Fill light slider in ACR.

Lovely photo. The head turn for looking back is just right as is the dof.

I really think the foliage really makes the photo as well as allowing the full view of the bird.

    Very well done.

Hi Neil, I agree about lightening the face. Excellent dof and a great composition. I like perches like this.

Very handsome image. Great pose, perch, BG; and especially, good use of flash (i.e. virtually unnoticeable). Another vote for a bit of brightness on the face.

Well done. You could go a little more. Is your monitor calibrated? How does the calibration strip look at the bottom of the page? Here's what I was thinking. Also removed the flash catchlight and dodged the natural highlight a little.
