I sort of like this. I used B&W in PS and then played with the sliders for maximum detail.
    Comments appreciated.

I like the comp and the effects. In this case I like the background swirls and b & w works well.

Hi Steve, I like the b&w look and the filter effect. I really like the angle of the tail and the perfect alignment it has with the perch. The plumage on the crest also helps to tell the story of the wind. Cool!

Steve, I like this too. Nice job w/ the conversion and the swirls seem to stand out a bit more in B&W.

I agree with the above comments. It's your creation and BW is BW. But, this is a Painted Bunting man! I want to see that color! Maybe you could apply this BW treatment to a BG copy layer of the color version, then with an eraser brush set to about 10% opacity, 0 hardness, erase some of the BW over the bird, creating a "tinted BW" look with some of the fabulous Painted Bunting colors exposed. Just MHO

    Dan,
Here is something like you suggested. IF you want full color, it was already posted. I have been experimenting with different effects with different images. This is one.

Thanks, Steve! This is more my cup of tea! I did see the Avian post and loved it! I am so envious of the Painted Bunting captures that I see here! One Day!!!

Another nice composition, Steve. I like how you processed and I think i still like the original although the repost is very good.
