Got this female montagus harrier take off at first light, that nicely lite up the bird. I pushed that effect further by burning the BG.

    Spec: Av mode, 1/2500, F 4, ISO 800.

    Mk4+500mm.

kept it tight for web presentation hope its ok.

    Regards,

    Kiran.

    Kiran:

Beautifully lit, good timing, because of the intense stare straight ahead, I think the tight cropping works.
Large perch, but with enough detail to keep it interesting, and the lighting is subdued enough on the perch to downplay its size further.

    Well done.

    Cheers

Kiran, your usual high standards. loved the pose and the environment. terrific light and stare. terrific AF work.

With the tail so sharp at f/4, I am guessing the distance was quite high. IQ has held up pretty well if its a substantial crop. Or you did an extremely good job on sharpening the tail... Very well done also on blurring the BG...doesn't look PP blurring at all. I must say you've processed this masterfully....the BG has the wide-open feel but the bird has the DOF of a smaller aperture.

Killer on all counts as above. In addition I love the orange/brown triangle on the rock pointing at the bird. And oh what a pose.

This is really beautiful!! Burning the BG adds a lot but it also creates an un-natural feel to this image with the bird so nicely lit and the BG and perch are not.

Great pose, stare, and overall composition. I really like the yellow talons, with the rock pointing to them as Artie mentions. TFS
