Default Drumming Ruffed Grouse - 3

A view from late in the drumming sequence with the wing speed peaking. I was thinking of titling this one "Phantom-winged Grouse." 7D, 500 mm f/4, 1/50, f/4.5, ISO 400, tripod, photographed from a blind. I toned down the brighter areas of the background, removed the small stick below the grouse (visible in the previous posts) using a quick mask, and ran nr on the background. All comments are welcome and appreciated.

Very cool effect with those "ghost" wings, but the best part of this image is the stick removal for a clean perch...well done! I've enjoyed this series immensly!

Very nice Steve, love the moss covered log perch. The wing blur is lovely too!

    Steve:

Another nice one. I hope you have the opportunity to print this series out so they can be viewed as a complete story.

Removing the stick and droppings helps strengthen the impact of the nice perch.

    Strong work.

    Cheers

That's the one for me!! There appears to be just a little more space around the bird.

Hi Steve, I mentioned it before in your previous post, how I like how the blurred wings blend into the BG. In this, the effect/result looks even better. Yep, Ive enjoyed your series too. Well done.
