Canon 7D Canon 500mm f4 L IS, tripod, ISO 400 1/640 sec f5.6
I took this shot in a park just north of Liverpool, unfortunately it was windy so I did not get the silky smooth water, I have some other images in which I did a little brushing but I am not too impressed so I thought I would post this one as it was.
I intend to return hopefully as the chicks hatch.
I like the interaction but wish for better eye contact from both birds; you might try lightening the irises of the two birds. Sharpness and exposure are solid. The birds are a little too low in the frame as presented; do you have any more canvas? Also there's some cloning apparent at the bottom middle and right.
A good start would have been raising the camera.... Good stuff above by Mr. Brown.

Thanks Doug and Artie, I added a little canvas to the bottom of the frame because the grebe in the water had been clipped. I did lighten the irises a little, hopefully I will return a little later in the day next time to get better light, though I am painfully aware of the area being surrounded by tall trees so I suspect there may be shadows.
Regards camera angle I did take some images from a higher position, I will post as soon as practicable.
