Amazing behaviour captured!! I think it needs some more sharpening.

Agree, rare moment.
The flight was only about 12 feet in distance with the bird emerging from and returning to the tall grass. He emerged from the grass with no warning and then just disappeared. I got off three frames with the 1D4 and two of the frames were badly obscured by the grass. I was surprised to get this frame.

Amazing capture with two perfect head angles. Everything looks on the hazy side... Image Quality suspect at best. Still amazing and worth re-doing. Here is a quick and dirty version.
Can we see the ORIG capture?

Excellent action captured Jim, a very tough shot to get. I would apply fine sharpening on the head on RAW before resizing.
Great work!

Wow.. what an image. The sharpened version is a little better. The blade of grass near the left wing is a little distracting tho'. Wonder if something can be done about it. :)
I liked this one better with Artie's touch up....details on head and beak are very nice in it.
I agree with what Angad said above the branch under wing is very distracting. But we can not get everything to our liking all the time :-)
Capturing moment is one and getting out so many details out of it is another thing. Optimum of both works wonder...
The last post sure works great Jim, loved the raw moment of nature caotured here...![]()
