Every winter a few Bar-tailed Godwits remain in Australia while most of them fly to the northern hemisphere for breeding. This one was pulling a small beach worm out of the sand on Pambula Beach.
Canon 50D, 400f/5.6L, 1/2000s, f/5.6, ISO 400, manual exposure, Mongoose 3.6 mounted on a skimmer
small rotation applied then cropped for composition
Good work, Leo! I like the low angle, sharpness, FG reflection and BG. The worm is great and also the back foot adds nicely! The lighting is on the bright side but handled well IMO! Nice!
I like the low angle and feeding behaviour. The raised back foot adds interest. Personally I find there is a bit too much FG...cropping a good chunk of it away would strenghten the comp IMO.
In addition to sharp, too much foreground, and a good EXP I like that you have perfectly paralleled the bird. Best to watch the breaking waves as here it intersects the bird's body..... Lots of other options but you did get the worm :).
