    Folks,

    Greetings. Could use some help on ID. Would be much appreciated.

    Hi Michael. I think this is a young Say's Phoebe. The body color and black tail are good for Say's. The brownish wingbars and the light colored lower mandible indicate this may be a hatch year bird. IMO!

    Greetings. Thanks for the quick reply. Does seem to be a juvenile... a strangely slightly smaller bird brought it back some food (a cricket, maybe).

    Say's Phoebe was a possible for me (from Sibley's) but the underparts were a fairly bright yellow (maybe darkens to rufous as it matures?)...

    --> Ah, checking the oof shot I have of the adult... its underparts are definitely more on the rufous side...

    Fledged young can often look larger than their parents.
