Hi Grahame, Nice composition and the bg texture looks good but the dark areas of the pansy needs a bit lightening. Not sure if this is what what you meant by the b&w mask in Nik. I will defer this to Nik experts... Thanks for sharing.
Grahame, I don't think it's a mess. I'm not sure what happened but I think the center of the pansy needs an adjustment - maybe shadows and highlights. What blend mode did you use for the texture?

Grahame, Not 100% sure what you did but I do like the look of this very much and would just work on lightening the pansy a bit. Usually when I start w/ a texture I stack it on top of the base image and use a blend mode first, then I flatten or merge the layers and create a duplicate layer before applying any more processing to it.![]()
