One more desataturated western grebe image. Nikon D3s, Nikkor 200-400mm, f9.0, 1/640, iso 400, manual, matrix. Desaturated the blue water in PS CS5. C & C appreciated.

Gary, this is great! I love the matching head angles, even if they are looking away - doesn't bother me at all in OOTB. The close grouping works for me too as well as the gradual loss of focus with distance. The three eyes are super and I love the toning. Very nicely done!

Gary, this is a beautiful composition. I like the desaturated look and the water. I think taking a bit off from top and left would make this even stronger. Thanks for sharing.

Gary, I love the line up and the de-saturation with just the bright red eyes is perfect! The sharp front eye is great.

Excellent composition, and processing choices. Desat with red eye works beautifully. Very nicely done.

Thanks to all for the kind and encouraging comments. I had the opportunity to observe 12 migrating western grebes for nearly two hours. The extended time of observation provided opportunities to obtain images involving multiple subjects. The same morning 6 male red-breasted mergansers and 2 looons were sharing the pond. I will submit some of thse images in the eager to learn forum.
