A-Farm is , as a wise man(Charles Glatzer) , once put it , is the best place to take alot of bad pictures. Very difficult to isolate the subjects and get clean BG's. Tried to make this work with a little post processing. Interested in your thoughts.

Tomorrow, would you post the original so we can see your PP efforts? I would get rid of the stick in front of his bill down as far as where the foreground leaf intersects the breast feathers, and also the twig that comes into the frame on the RHS. Its too bad about the OOF twig behind the crown feathers -- I don't see much hope to eliminate that without ruining the delicate feather detail.

It is a beautiful exposure of a very handsome specimen. Was this from the photo fest?

No , it was from a "Shoot the Light" tech series a week later.

Such sharp feather detail and it really pops from the busy BG. A bit tight at the bottom though but not a big issue.

Not sure what you did, Joe, but the bird stands out nicely from the BG. Not sure about the stick, but it might be worth trying a version without it. It doesn't bother me too much. Exposure, detail and HA look great to me.

Joe, excellent detail captured on the crest, and just love the breeding colours. Well exposed, and the egret certainly does pop from the darker BG. An opportunity well used.
