To try Artie's trick of getting level with the subject, I hung over the cliffs of the 90 Mile Beach on a rope in East Gippsland to capture this young Pacific Gull in flight (divorce in on the cards:))
Captured on a Canon 30D with 300mm F4L IS + 1.4X Con. (420mm), F/10, 1/1000 sec, ISO-200.
Beautiful capture right at eye level < smile > Very nice detail and eye contact as well as a great BG. My only thoughts would be to crop a little off the bottom. Otherwise lovely capture and your efforts payed off Christopher.
Hi Chris can also add the bird was just past your position Best to capture before or right at !!! You got enough curve on the wing to make it interesting When they are totally sideways with straight out wings we call it the pancake mode !!!
btw glad you made it alive from the adventure Amazing you were able to even point the camera !!!!
You get an A for effort, Chris. I agree with Alfred about the bird being just past your position - it is now flying away from you. The beak and face look a bit soft on my monitor. You might try some selective sharpening there.
