    Just caught this at my watering trough.
    Houston Texas
    I think it might be a female brown headed cowbird, but it seems to have an awfully long beak for that. My book says they have a shortish beak.

    When I was in Texas in Jan. we had all kinds of funky beaks on birds so it just may be a cowbird.

    This looks like a young (juvenile) European Starling to me (overall brownish colour, and the bill shape-lenght).

    Hadn't thought about juvie starling. Could be what it is. Thanks to both of you for your comments

    I'm with Daniel on this one. I'd call this a definite juv. Starling.
