Excellent shot.. carel.. super sharp.. nice angle.. And great BG too..![]()
No complaints from me Carel!!! Outstanding!!!![]()
Very nice and close, Carel! BG looks great and I like the position of the fly in the frame on the diagonal of the leaf. It does seem that you loose some detail with the extender, I would have expected to see more detail on the eye and all the tiny hairs. I would add a bit more contrast/clarity and a bit of sharpness to the fly.
Very nice shot, The colours on the fly appear quite subtle (?) I think you have achieved fine focus there though I too sense the image is just a tad soft - maybe a little more sharpening and/ or a linear curve or a broad Unsharp Mask would help a little??
Wow! Carel, the quality and detail on this is really superb! Nicely exposed and compose!![]()
Superb, Carel! Love the eye--looks like ground glass and I want to touch it. Excellent angled composition and detail-less bokeh always makes a great BG for this type of image. The water drops are a nice bonus. The subject is so strong that I didn't notice this initially, but there is a light glow along the edge of the grass throughout the triangular area at the bottom of the frame. There also seem to be some unusual artifacts along the edge your subject is facing.

You see the lighter edge with is the midrib of the leaf.
The leaf is folded and it seems that there is an odd edge.
This is all original pictures to see just more and no editing edge.
Wow Carel, this fly looks like it's ready to fly right off my monitor! The light, comp, and background are all very nice and the overall DOF is outstanding. I'm OK with the sharpness - I'm thinking that increasing the sharpness may quickly give it an oversharpened look - this might be something you could experiment with.Very well done!

What 1.4x extender did you use?
