Hi Bobby- Marvellous first post. Welcome to BPN! Please fell free to comment on other images. We are interested in your opinions.

The technical details of the image are spot on in my opinion. Post, head angle, exposure, composition, background and sharpness are all really fine. My favourite aspect of the image is the light. A lot of people still think that they need the sun shining to make a good bird image. Compare the harsh shadows and highlights that this would produce to your warm, well-lit subject with beautiful colours.

Very well done and we look forward to more from you.

Welcome Bobby, you're starting off with a terrific first post here. I'm pretty new here too. I think you did a great job on this shot and John has covered all the great aspects of your shot already. Really stands out nicely against the background. Let's see some more.

Very well done...if most of your photos are like this you really don't need much help......If I were to suggest anything it would be to crop a little off the top.

Thank you for your kind comments. I agree with you about the lighting, as I'm not yet set up for fill-flash yet, yet. Because I'm still learning, and that this was my first post I thought this would be the best place to start.

Bobby- Fill-flash is a very valuable tool but is very difficult to pull off with a subject with any amount of black. The black just develops a sheen under flash and is nowhere near as attractive as your image here.

Ahh, that makes sense. Say can I re-post this image in the big boys Avian forum, or is that not nesassary?

Hi Bobby, we aren't related are we?

Excellent image for all the reasons already mentioned. As for cross-posting, it's not really allowed but if you wait a couple of weeks and then post it there that would be cool. Please mention that you originally posted it here. Looking forward to more, whether here or with the "big boys" (there are some petite ladies there too...).

Hi Kerry, who knows maybe we are related.

Thanks for the kind words & the re-posting tip. No pun intended on the "big boys" thing, I just meant the Avian Critique.

I like your Henry David Thoreau quote.
