Still editing images from my bald eagle trip in March. Caught this one starting a dive just after a sharp bank. The BG comes into play a little more than I would have liked but I was wide open with this particular lens.. The BG was just a bit to close to the bird. Shown as captured full frame...

This is a very cool dorsal view, Dale. The sharpness is good and the exposure is well handled. The background may be a little more detailed than I'd prefer, but that is a minor point IMO - the eagle stands out very well from the background and the background does give a good feel for the environment. Well done.
I agree with your self assessment of the background. However, I love the pose and the resulting topside view of the eagle. The full wing and tail display is quite lovely.
The eagle appears sharp with good details.
The white at the base of the tail are a bit hot on my monitor; perhaps an artifact from converting to a Jpeg?
Very nice in the camera composition. However, if this were mine, I would be tempted to take a little off the top so that the space above was about equal to the space from the birds wing to the edge of the frame (our left) which would move the bird up in the frame just a bit. I do however, think it presents very well as shown especially considering it is full-frame.
