I really like this Ken... I think the straight-on head shot works well here and gives this a unique look, especially with those upright ears. Awesome work!

Fantastic pose captured Ken. Nice light and good use of dof. I might consider a little more space top and bottom.

great pose and soft light here Ken...have to say I agree on it needing more space, particularly at the top and bottom

nice techs too - off-topic, are these rhinoceros crepuscular, diurnal or nocturnal by nature?

Another vote for more space as per comments above, but what a tremendous posture. I wonder if many species actually take them up on the challenge. I doubt it.

    Morkel,

If you mean what time did we see them my answer is we saw them everyday during our visits, you are allowed to go into the park only at certain times which vary depending on whatever they decide on the day, but we usually were in from around 1/2 hour after sunrise for three hours and from around 15.00 to 18.00 for the afternoon session. Quite what definition this puts them in I have no idea.

Thanks for your comments, I have no more space as this is almost full frame cropped to correct a slight rotation problem.

Yes it was that close, given the fact that a member of the anti-poaching had been killed by a Rhino two days before I suppose with hindsight we may have been a little reckless, but we lived to tell the tale.

What a amazing looking animal...IQ looks great, maybe a touch more space around would have been nice. The head on look is great...Very nice ken, your trip looked very rewarding!

Two recommendations regarding the space comments.

On the left I do not feel all the empty space helps the image Ken so I would suggest cropping some of that out.

Regarding top and bottom, if the rhino was still, a quick pan down could have resulted in an image that could be stitched onto the one presented.

    Robert,

I agree with you but technically I am really not up to stitching

Probably a lot easier than you think Ken. If you are using PS, it works great. I do this with bears all the time. Worth a try even if it does not work out.
