    Default Snail Kite Topside Bank

I photographed this magnificent raptor on Jim Neiger's boat. I chose a tight crop for web presentation. While the bird isn't looking directly at me, it is staring intently at something (perhaps a snail), so the eye contact wasn't an issue for me. What about you?

Lovely pose Doug. A bit more of the tail would have been fantastic. A ton of detail in wings.

HA and eye look fine to me and I can't quite tell, on a laptop, that kite is not looking at camera. I don't think it would matter in a hunting situation anyway.

    Lovely bg as well.

Hey Doug! Great stuff from Toho (I presume)! The HA and eye contact is ok with me. The wing position is very non-typical for BIF! I don't know if it is my favorite, but I love the detail. Also, not seeing the rump and much of the tail is OOTB for BIF. I guess it is VERY UNIQUE!

I love it Doug. Different and dramatic. The pose seems to add to the intensity of those hunting eyes. The topside feather detail is beautiful.

Hi Doug. Excellent sharpness and detail and the bird is well separated from the background. The head turn makes the image for me and I like that the bird is not looking directly at the camera.

I'm not much of an "eye-contact" guy when it comes to bird photography, if at all, so no issues from me. Neat pose, lovely BG. Could there be a bit of a purple cast to the plumage - I've never seen this species in real life, just going from other photos I've seen...

I must agree on the POV. Very nice. The kite pops nicely from th BG too and the banking pose just great.

The tight crop works for me, although maybe a touch more space needed LRC. We can see both eyes, so Im fine there, and of course the banking angle shows the dorsal view nicely. Killer BG too.

    Hi Doug,

Lots to like here! Sharp, and well exposed with a nice background. The pose and view of the topside is superb. I also like how the wing introduces a vertical line which draws me to the birds face. Well done!!!

A real beauty Doug! I like the hunters stare down so the eye contact doesn't bother me. I like the sharpness, details and composition.

    Doug,
Sharpness and detail are top class. I love the stare. The tail and wing angle is giving an impression of change of direction. Great shot.
