    Default Smart-phones & Birds & Photography

My birthday was May 12th and I received an iPod4. After just a few days of playing, reading and playing some more. I am in love with the photography and bird apps. It does not have to be an iPod. Any handheld tool with a camera will work. Tell me about your favorite birding and photography applications. Post some images as well.

Using a Smart-Phone, photo app named Perfect Picture ($1.99). I captured Peaches (Sun Conure) in the kitchen on my wife's shoulder. This app allows for such technical adjustments as:
    Brightness/Contrast
    Gamma
    Exposure
    Levels
    Hue/Sat/Lightness
    Color Balance
    Sharpen
    Denoise
    Red Eye
    Spot Healing

I applied crop, denoise, sharpened and adjusted exposure - still playing and learning.

ps - loaded Sibley Field Guide, ver 6.1 on the Smart Phone.

    Jeff:

Get iBird Explorer Plus. It's a terrific app, which also plays the songs of most North American birds. And it's now half price ($9.99) because of a spring sale.

And here's Herbie, our Red-headed Mexican Amazon!

I used the camera in a new iPod Touch 4G (a wedding anniversary gift from Linda ). Then I e-mailed the image to myself, opened it in gmail, dragged the image to my desktop, and applied DeNoise 4 and some touches in PS CS5 (modest crop, levels, SH and smart sharpen).

It's cool that we can always have our smart phones and iPods in our pockets wherever, we go. And one never knows what the cameras in them might capture.

Norm,..I love the picture of Herbie, he is adorable. Nice job combining the Smartphone and CS5.

The apps are getting better and so are the cameras. I will post another shot soon.

Brian, I loaded it today and provide more feedback once I play a bit. My initial thoughts are it is great!

Thanks Brian. Linda and I now have it on our iPods, and it's terrific for bird songs.
