One of my favorite songs from the forest, and probably my favorite sparrow species. I placed my audio set-up beneath this naturally broken-off birch tree in hopes it would land on it...30 seconds later there it was.

    Canon 30D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/200s., f/6.3, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, FF.

Great calling/singing pose Dan, and I like how we can see a hint of his tongue. Lovely soft light, and glad you got your shot with the audio.

One of my favorites as well, Dan.....I can hear the song in my head right now. It is kind of sad to me, like the song of the hermit thrush, but very beautiful. Your image is very nice, by the way, and well exposed and composed. I might have went vert but would just be another option.

Well captured Dan. I love these little guys too. Comp is outstanding on this shot and the exposure looks really good. Nice to see the singing pose. My have gone now for the summer, but they are one of my favorite winter birds to shoot. The background adds to this shot and makes the subject stand out nicely.

Lovely singing pose and I really like the nice and simple composition. Just the right amount of room all around for me.

Bg is well chosen as well.

Great one, love the singing pose.
Here in New England the way to remember the song
is to imagine it singing the lyrics:
    "Oh, sweet, Canada, Canada, Canada...."

    Cheers,
