Here is a pic of one of our frequent backyard visitors. I kind of like the facial expression and eyes.

    Dave,

Nice portrait of your backyard visitor.

Did you use flash? It looks like your did. I would suggest a reverse s-curve to reduce the contrast on the coat. The image could also use some more sharpening and if cloning out small distractions is OK with you I suggest getting rid of the two bright spots above the head.

Hi Dave , lovely portrait with a nice expressive look. I agree with Robert re additional sharpening, particularly the snout.

Dave it's great that you get them close to your home. Robert's assessment is spot-on, and to me it just looks like you didn't have enough shutter speed (what was your SS by the way?).

is that your garden wall behind him??

We have state protected game lands behind our house, so this is not unusual. We have had a family of bobcats visit on and regular basis. The bobcats play havoc with the squirrels and my wife is constantly trying to chase them off. We have several groups of deer also. This summer while the fawns are being born, we will have coyotes and bobcats stalking the fawns.

The coyote was on the edge of pretty heavy woods. The background is underbrush and palmetto palms. He kept jumping from the shadows into partial sunlight and back again.

I looked at the snout and added more sharpening. It does appear better, but the fur is just flat. I don't know why but it just is. I can send you a different version if you like.
