Pigeon in flight in my back garden. I shot this in the evening when the sun was going low. The lighting on the bird was fantastic. Out of a few continuous shots I thought this was good enough to retain.
Canon 7D, 100-400 L IS, ISO 400, 1/800, f5.6, evaluative metering, handheld, converted from RAW in DPP, no post-processing, cropped
A tough one to pull off. What I do like is the tail flare and the light coming through its feathers. Otherwise this is pretty soft due to subject motion - 1/800s. was just not enough to fully freeze this incoming bird. Yyou got a less than ideal BG (although it does convey an urban setting). Valiant try, but just not quite there IMO...
P.S. Converted from raw and cropped = post-processing.
Pigeons are pretty fast characters to get in flight, and as they are fairly small, it makes it even harder. Good landing pose with the fanned tail, and I like how you have captured him head on. I agree the surrounding BG is a tad busy, and would run some NR on the BG.
