Default 5000 Pixels of Barred Owl

Well 4986 pixels is more accurate. This image of a Barred Owl in flight is uncropped on the horizontal axis; it's definitely the most pixels I've ever gotten on a flying Barred Owl. The bird literally fills most of the frame. I had to do some work on the right half of the BG because the roots of a Cypress tree were a little too bright.

Just to give you an idea of the size of the bird in the frame, here's a 1024 pixel wide 100% crop.

Brilliant Doug. I like your choice of comp, and you have certainly nailed the exposure, detail and sharpness. We all wish for either a full down or up stroke of the wings, but this frame works so well as is. Good 3D effect in this too, and separated from the BG nicely. Well captured.

Ridiculous! The bird must have been about 50ft away..nice job keeping him in the frame.

Great work Doug! I bet you felt the breeze from its wingbeat. Spectacular shot.

That was close indeed! I bet any image with the full up or downstroke would have clipped feathers. Great amount of detail, and the 100% crop shows exceptional IQ. Good work on the right side of the BG, but I would also smooth out the line sticking up from the neck. Awesome stuff!

    Doug...

Nice image but the whole thing is ruined in total by the double catchlight.

    I"M JOKING!!!

Pretty much the best I have seen of this species this close in flight.

    Doug:

Excellent all the way around, good comments above.

    Pretty impressive hand held technique

A big print would be great to see.

    Cheers
