    Default Trumpeter Swan

I am fortunate to live in an area where Trumpeter Swan's winter over because of a lovely nuclear plant that dumps warm water in the river to keep it from freezing. This image was captured in the early morning with bone chilling temps of about -20 wind chill factor. Brrrr.

    Peace,
    Jake

    Lucky you!!!

Very beautiful! I would prefer the up or down stroke in the wings, unless the bird is flying head on to me.

Since I don't have any swans, though, will trade for an Anhinga ;) :)

Hi Jake! I love the wings in this one! How did you get so much DOF? Do you have the technical info for this one?

Looking at it I wonder - what makes the shoulders turn blue? Very nice color there!
    Cheers,
    Christof

    Thanks Fabs and Christof!
I'm not sure about the blue color cast unless it is due to the shadows or maybe a bit over saturated. I'll have to play with the original RAW image now that I have Photoshop Lightroom.

    Here are the details:
    Camera: Canon 20D
Lens: Canon 100-400 Image Stabilized Lens (330mm range)
    ISO 200
    1/640
    f9
    -1EV

    Thanks!
