Default Red Grouse (F) in early morning

Taken very early in the morning when the Grouse were out feeding in the heather. This location is about a 45 min car journey, shorter than some I've done, but it's a gamble to what is there and the weather!!! Sadly some of their habitat recently has been hit by fires (nature & arson) that sweep the moorlands incredibly quickly, consuming vast acres of territory, killing both vertebrates, and chicks, parents can fly to avoid the devastation. This one was fortunate.

any reason for ISO-200 in this early light?
    - Not really Morkel, had enough SS and thought I would be daring and drop from my default setting

Hi Steve. Love the earth tones and the even light. Nice low shooting angle, the bird looks relaxed, and it stands out well from the background. Well done.

Thanks guys, the standard is always extremely high here and consistently moving in that direction with some exceptional images, both in content & execution, so I have to be very selective in my postings. Glad you liked it.

    cheers

Love the warm tones, detail, and low angle. Great image. Recently, we have had very large areas burned. I always worry about the young wildlife. Thanks for sharing.

Sweet light and colours Steve, and your low perspective had paid off here. I really like the detail on the grouse. Well captured.
