Chas - I like the framing and the feather detail.I have not used flash myself but this looks spot on as It does not look like you have used flash. I like the slight opened beak.
Brightness looks spot on here. Like that you centered it so nicely against the o-o-f tree. Am not a fan of the ratty oak leaves; otherwise clean and pristine. How was your flash set?

Really beautiful, Chas. Hooray for the oof background. Alligator Farm can look pretty gritty. This looks like a painted portrait. I prefer the softer white of your pp.
Ofers repost looks spot on to me in terms of brightness. Agree with Arthur, BG is perfectly chosen and the foliage at top of frame detracts from the image just a tiny bit. Well done on the great use of flash
I prefer the original. I think it looks more natural. Now that I took your series , I hope to produce images as killer as this , with a bit of practice. You gave the tools. Now just need to get used to them.
The brightness is of course subjective. I mentioned "Appears as taken" for reference. Of course I could remove the oak leaves, but I am not a huge fan of this, preferring realism to sterility.
Best,
Chas
