    Peter,

I love this wind-swept look and soft light and tones of this image. Wonderfully done.

No doubting, the windswept look is very fetch in this image Peter.

My question here Peter is, I assume the soft tones and light is because of the location, almost suggesting to me, a slight 'milky' look & feel, but would a slight movement from the left slider in Levels just give it a little more 'character' in is appearance?

Still happy as presented and would to have had this one, but thought I might have been treated to a different look & feel after our discussions of a key photographer.

I also like the mood and wind swept look. I would have had a bit more room at the bottom though. I like the soft colours.... Nicely done Peter

Nice image Peter with lovely soft light. Exposure well handled with all the bright grass around. Has the unmistakeable feel of Etosha. Love it.

Peter - I am going to say it again - you are the windswept master. I love the soft even color and light of this image. The comp works very well.

A dramatic and dynamic capture and a wonderful contrast to Roger's old beast in a later posting. Thanks.

    Peter,

Very nice Lions in Etosha, could be a little darker, but you know what it should look like

Peter, I love the way it's all lion and grass and nothing else...like the "ghost and the darkness"
I do feel the lion could pop a bit more and hope you don't mind me having a fiddle with it.

I merely selected the lion carefully, ran LCE (local contrast enhancement) on it (USM 20%,10px) and one round of smart sharpen (125%, 0.2px) with a slight workup of shadow/highlights (shadows 8%, highlights 5%, midtone contrast 8%)

Let me know what you think...

Thank you all for your input...

Steve with this image because of the dreamy look to lion with BKG I deliberately held back the black slider in levels also i held back in curves I wanted the lion and BKG similar tonal range....same with the sharpening applied enough but did nt want anyone particular feature to stand out... I dont know if this makes sense .. just my celtic/ zen persona

Vivaldo .. totally agree with you .. i straightened image so lost some room on the bottom of image I have undone that now to the main file.. so thanks !

Morkel.. please feel free to work on my images... just be careful using LCE , works well in some situations especially landscapes... otherwise u can a frostiness to animal as it is in repost .. the mane, LHS of face and RHS of body.. appreciate the input

    thanks again one and all

Glad you found that 'jigsaw piece' of info Peter, as the picture is now complete and I can understand where you are now coming from. So it's more 'dreamy' rather than reflective.

    cheers.

no problem Peter...don't really see the "frostiness" but remember I had to work on the jpg file...I mostly use it on landscapes but if I do use it on mammals I keep it slight (hence the 10px vs bigger radius).

also what I normally do is do a duplicate of the animal and after LCE I put on a mask and paint through the parts that were "overdone"

alas the "pop" I wanted to add could be done through various means...

Neither has mine, so I guess we just prefer our "fur texture" differently then
